Husband Experiencing Right Side Buttock Muscle Spasms. He Is Post

Husband experiencing right side buttock muscle spasms. He is post spinal fusion L3 to L5. As he is taking pain meds he is also taking laxatives for constipation. Could the bowel movements under these conditions be causing internal muscle spasms? He had foot drop in his right leg.
