I Am 1 Month Post Op L4 L5 Discectomy/Laminotomy, Would

I am 1 month post op L4 L5 Discectomy/Laminotomy, would it be recommended to speak with a doctor about prescribing steroids for my recovery. I am interested in cycling steroids once or twice however I want my health monitored by a doctor, an most likely the injections done too. Would you recommend this, and if so, what kind of doctor should I look for. I am a 37 year old male
