I Am 26 Years Old And Have Had A Sore

I am 26 years old and have had a sore throat for 6 days now. I went to the doctor's yesterday and she thought it was strep throat and prescribed me penicillin. My swab results came back negative today. Should I stop treatment because it could be viral?
