I am 32 years old, healthy and active. However, recently I started minastrin 24 birth control to help alleviate the pain I have been experiencing do to adenomyosis or known as uterine endometriosis. At the same time I started doxycycline antibiotics for cystic acne. Not long after taking those medications I thought I had a severe yeast infection....so after 2 rounds of over the counter products and a 150 mg dose of diflucan....symptoms did not cease. I began to notice bumps and thought maybe it was from the yeast infection.....so I tried bathing in apple cider vinegar... I applied directly to my vagina probiotic yogurt........NOTHING WORKED....in fact those bumps spread....and were now open sores.....Anand I was in the most agony of my life....even after having 3 children. Finally a trip to my obgyn revealed that I have herpes simplex 1....on my vagina. Cold sores.....but I've never had a single symptom or break out before.....but I wonder if I've had it in my system and because of all the desperate attempts to fix my condition I triggered it. It was hard to take for me and my husband who believed I had an STD. I was prescribed lidocaine, 10 day course of Valtrex and percocet.......cleared up and back to normal.....and then.....I had sex with my husband and I had torn...fissures....crack....whatever you call it and I was in pain AGAIN. So let it heal....waited a week....had sex again......and it cracked again! Vaginal dryness does not seem to be the source...I believe it could be the birth control. .HELPA
