I Am 35 And Recently Was Diagnosed With Asthma,was A

I am 35 and recently was diagnosed with asthma,was a heavy smoker all my life and now only smoke a few cigs a day.But every couple of months I get a uncontrollable cough,wheezing and it's hard to breath my inhaler helps for that instant but it keeps coming back til I have to go to the e.r.I have had pneumonia,brochospasms,brochetisiss,and other problems related to asthma.After I get the steroids and inhaler,it clears up for a month or 2 then right back in the e.r I go.I've been in e.r 20 times the past 2 years,and can't seem to figure out what's triggering these episodes.
