Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 45 yr old female and gave blood today. They said my hemoglobin level was 18.5. Also, a couple months ago my mother died from complications of hemochromatosis so I had my iron levels checked and my Farretin serum was ok but my totall iron was 177. My doctor said he wasn't worried about it at that time, but after today I wonder if I should talk to my doctor. My father had a heart attack when he was 47. I have great blood pressure, don't smoke occasionally drink, and I'm physically fit. My cholesterol is border line. I run long distances and I'm training for my 2nd marathons right now. Should I be worried?
