I Am 48. Female. Overweight. I Have Had Swelling In

I am 48. Female. Overweight. I have had swelling in my knee for 4 months. Seen 2 different doctors . Blood work for gout was negative. MRI shows a tear and excess fluid that the doctor doesn't think if from the tear. I have been referred to a rheumatologist however I can't get in for 3 months! My ortho suggests having the fluid drained.
I have not been able to bend my knee in months and it's not getting better.
I do the " rice", have a leg brace and even a cane to help.
I can't handle the thought of the pain for draining my knee. Can I be given meds to help relax for this??
