I Am 49 Years Old. I Have Not Had My

I am 49 years old. I have not had my period since October 2012. I have had hot flashes for years. Just a few weeks ago, I started having lower back pain which seemed to be muscle related and has gotten better but is still there; however last week I felt like I was going to get my period, my breasts were very tender and now I have a very small amount of pinkish discharge for the past few days. My hot flashes have stopped. I looked online and saw a lot about abnormal bleeding after menopause (one year without a period) is related to ovarian or uterus cancer. My symptoms are lower back pain, light pink discharge, no hot flashes, period symptoms. I have an appointment with my gyno on Friday. I'm very worried it could be cancer. My Grandmother on the Father's side had uterus cancer. I was told not to worry about inheriting those genes if it wasn't on my Mother's side. Is this true?
