I Am 50 Year Old Female. I've Always Had A

I am 50 year old female. I've always had a very regular menstrual cycle. The last 10 years, my cycle has lasted only a day or two, but very consistent. This month, I started a week early, and the cycle has lasted two full weeks. Normally, I see old, or darker blood. The second week' especially, of this cycle has been much heavier, bright red, and mucous you. Any off the-cuff idea So? Could this be a transition between peri menopause and the full blown menopause?
