I Am 55 Years Old. I Have Only Been Having

I am 55 years old. I have only been having a menstrual cycle every 6 months. However starting on December 3rd. I started having half days of bleeding. Then on the 19th I started having heavy bleeding with clots. It seems to be getting much worse. The clots are larger and more frequent. With frequent times of hemorrhaging. With constant headaches. I have a doctors appointment on the 12th. Should I wait or go to the emergency room?
