Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 65 and my fiancee is 56. We plan to be married this coming May. We are not sexually active but we did get tested for STD's. My tests were all negative. My fiancee tested positive forgential herpes. Needless to say she is very upset. She has never had an outbreak that she is aware of. The wedding is on regardless of the test results.
I'd like to ask you a couple of questions.
Is it possible that she received a false positive on her herpes test? Is there only one test for gential herpes? I just finished reading an article on WebMD about a study that showed some women were carriers of gential herpes and did not know it. Did that mean they had never had an outbreak? Did they test positive or negative for gential herpes?
Thank you for your time. Vic
