I Am 65 Year Old Female Who Had A TIA

I am 65 year old female who had a TIA with left side paralysis which continued two days later. They are now labeling it a lacunar stroke. I am on Plavix 75. The doctor prescribed it for 21 days. I called today to verify today was the 21st day, and the nurse told me EVERYONE is on it for at least 3 months. My father died from a bleed from poorly monitored coumadin. I am low iron (Score of 8). I would love to get off Plavix. Is it possible 21 days is long enough and its safe to go on only 81mg aspirin?
