I Am 66 Years Old. Type 2 Diabetes Diagnosis Approx

I am 66 years old. Type 2 diabetes diagnosis approx 4 yrs ago b/p recently ranging 160 to 180 over 80 to 90. Md having difficulty prescribing b/p medication and diabetic med for me. My most recent a1c 7.9. I seem to have adverse effects from most all meds , such as itching., headaches. Dizziness . Most of the adverse effects occurs if not right away appear with in 2-3 months..no other health issues I'm 5'6 , 179 lbs attend gym 3 x wk very active,not couch potato. I'm presently on no medication( female) I eat healthy. Atenolol 25mg was very effective with the least side effects except for dizziness(lightheadness)
