Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 69 years old and up until 3 years ago I was very active-riding horses-working in my home and on my small ranch. I was born with RA and Fibromyalgia-Rheumatism went undiagnosed till 28 and a Family member a Physician was able to refer me to the Cleveland Clinic to see the Head of Rheumatology. I was Diagnosed with the Condition as described and after an H&P Was Written and returned to My Family member I followed the Advice. Warmer Dryer Climate, Ant-inflammatories (Aspirin at the time) and continued to exercise and Eat a Healthy Diet. The exercise was the most important part of my Self-Care and I continued to see a Rehumatologist in Woodside,Ca. after moving fromm Cleveland. I have been a very lucky person as I was able to keep exercising and eating a balanced diet and took NSAID which gave me real relief.haI moved to another part of the Bay Area where Allergies are a problem and I was having Sinus Infections Frequently. My Physician referred to an Allergist who did a Blood Test and designed a program for me with shots to tolerate the new environment gradually, daily meds (2 types) and Cortisone Shots as needed. I was first referred to the Alergist after I had been Caoughing for 72 Hours non-stop after a Redwood Tree outside my Door where I had just moved was raining red dust heavily. He gave me adreniline and then I started the program I just described after the he thoroughly tested my Allergy problem. I continued this program for 5 years but stopped about 3 years ago and I have gradually become effected again by my Enviormental Allergies-weeds etc etc. Not as severe as they were in the beginning but still keeping me from exercising which is a necessary part of my RA Care. It is also keeping me from working (which I love) in my Business. My Original Allergist retired and I was discouraged by the new Practice so I did not continue. Over the Counter Medication does not help at all!! I am given prednisone in doses that are lowered over 5 days and this is a benefit but I feel I need to find another Allergist who is interested in my being able to function without the constant Allergy symptoms. I am not sure how to find someone like I had initially and having Members of my Family who practiced Medicine (various Specialties) I know I need a Specialist. Is there an Allergy Institute in California that could help refer me as I am told I live in the Allergy Capital of the World. My Rural Property is 55 min from S.F. and 35 minutes from Walnut Creek and 10 minutes from Brentwood Ca. (Brentwood Orchards,Farms Lots of Pollen)
