I Am 71 Years Old And Was Diagnosed With Prostate

I am 71 years old and was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer last September. My urologist ordered a radical prostatectomy right away which I agreed to. Is there any way to know for certain whether I agreed to what was in my best health interests to have this surgery, or did I make a hasty and possibly wrong decision? How would I know what was the right thing to do?
