I Am 73 Years Old, Female, Diagnosed With Diabetes, Oct

I am 73 years old, female, diagnosed with diabetes, Oct 14, 2016. Glucose level was 133, AlC was 7.3. Given matformin 500 Mg. Saw dr. Nov. 11, lost 10 lbs. Have been experiencing diarrhea on and off. Should I tell my doctor to change medication. Went to diabetes classes, they took my AlC and it was 6.3. My doctor said she could not use that reading as I had to wait 3 months for the correct one. What should I do? Continue with my medication and hope the diarrhea eventually will stop.
