I am 74 years old, and have recently had a vaginal bleeding problem. I have been seen by my internist, and will be seen tomorrow afternoon by a a gyn. I had an ultra-sound performed this last Thursday, and am now scheduled for a biopsy to be done tomorrow. (the us showed a thickening in the uterin wall). My question is about some medication I have been directed to take in prep. for this procedure tomorrow.....the pharmacy sent 2 tablets; directions are that I place the first tablet in my vagina this evening, and then insert the 2nd tablet tomorrow no later than 1 hour prior to my appointment. I was also sent a box of Ibuprofen, to take up to 4 tablets (200 mg ea.) for possible cramping......needless to say, I am apprehensive as to the severity of this cramping....particularly since I will be driving myself to the appt. and worry about my well-being/safety. The ultra-sound procedure was somewhat stressful, and nothing was explained to me re. what it would consist of (.....It was done internally as well as applied to my abdominal area.) Needless to say, it was not a fun experience, and that's ok....but at my age, never having had this type of procedure, or for that matter, never have had any "female problems", this whole thing is frightening. I have all of my female organs still in tact, have carried/birthed 4 children with no pregnancy problems and so all of this is causing me to be rather apprehensive to say the least. One more thing....I have never gone through menopause.
