I Am A 51 Year Old White Male With A

I am a 51 year old white male with a several year history of low T. I went to the eye doctor today and was told that my optic nerve is inflamed. He is going to run some other tests (field vision and OCT) but asked if I had an MRI of my pituitary when I was diagnosed with low T, which I have not. I cannot get a followup appointment with eye doctor until late April. Can there be a connection between optic nerve and low T from a pituitary tumor and how unusual is an inflamed optic nerve? Should I go to my primary care doctor now and ask about MRI?
