I Am A 58 Yr Old White Male, Smoker But

I am a 58 yr old white male, smoker but in fair shape. I am a very active person , I work very very hard on a daily basis, I love to work. But, this morning my bowel movement had a moderate amount of blood in it. This has happened before but it was about 6 months ago and not the amount I had this morning. The only medications I take is Gabapentin for Nueropathy, have been taking this for 14 yrs. Should I pull the panic cord and visit ER?, ( I hate to bother those folks, I'm quite sure there are people worse off than me) or should I wait a couple of days and see if it returns ?
