I am a 59 y.o. male, 5-10 and 205lbs (and in the midst of losing weight on purpose). Last week I started getting a scratchy throat, but no nasal or head cold symptoms and because my eyes were often itchy and had gunk in the morning, I figured it was all allergies. But then I developed a low grade fever (equivalent to 100-100.5) with accompanying headache at night. I have a cough that's dry at night and slightly productive in the day, but not much phlegm. Throat only hurts when cough, and it's tender at the base of the neck when pressing on either side of the trachea. Mild aches such as knees and back occasionally. I was concerned it might be Lyme disease. I have been walking in the woods over the past two months, but wear long pants and a hat, and always check my arms. Never saw a tick bite or rash of any kind. Any ideas?
