I Am A 6 Year Old Diabetic Well-controlled (HgA1C=6.3) On

I am a 6 year old diabetic well-controlled (HgA1C=6.3) on 74 units insulin each night for many years, togethier with metformin and glipizide. Also, relatively moderate cholesterol levels that have been well controlled with Crestor. My endocrinologist prescribed 2x400 units of vitamin E daily. Any idea why this would benefit me? I'd like to reduce the number of meds that I take daily, as per general advice to do so by geriatrician.
