I Am A 61 Yr Old Female. In Fairly Good

I am a 61 yr old female. In fairly good health.
I have been taking Levothyroxine .05mg daily for a few yrs now. In Jan. 2016 routine lab work done for yearly exam. Results reported as such: T4, Free, Serum: T4, Free: 1.2 NG/dl
TSH Serum Tsh: 1.20 mIU/L
T3, Total, Serum Low T3,Total: 73NG/dl

Blood work from 7-10-15 reported as such: T4 Free T4, Free: 1.3 NG/dl
TSH Tsh: 2.65mIU/L
T3 Free T3, Free: 2.8 pg/ml

What is the difference between Free, Total, and Serum??? What could be the causes of a low T3 level? My doctor is talking of putting me on another medication (besides the Levothyroxine) because my T3 level is low. We have redrawn blood at end of March and am due to follow up w/her with the latest results.
I also am taking Letrozole 2.5mg daily and wonder if this could be affecting things. (Was dx w/breast ca last Mar 2015. Had surgery/radiation. No evidence in lymphnode.)
Any insight would be helpful. Thank you L. Miller
