I am a 70-year-old -- weight 260, height 5'10''. Had total hip replacement May 2014. Developed post-op infection in Jan.2016. Surgery to "clean-out" infection at the incision site and did 6-weeks of antibiotic infusion dictated by infectious disease doc. No hip pain. Sed rate 9-11. Everything fine. Now taking 100 mg of Doxycycline for 6 months (concludes in October). Infection reoccurred recently ( drainage at incision site -- small spot with little clear drainage). Had hip aspiration today with no fluid extracted. Added saline through needle -- only saline and some blood extracted. No hip pain (play golf 3X per week1)
