I Am A 71 Year Old Female And I Fell

I am a 71 year old female and I fell from boat onto a dock. My wrist took the brundt of the fall. The top of my hand is black and blue and is swollen and hurts, Advil doesn't seem to help, but I had leftover tedrol and slept through the night with little discomfort. I can move my fingers but it hurts a great deal to pull my hand back. At first I thought it was a sprain, but am not so sure now. This happened Friday. Should I get an xray or wait a few days in hope that it will get better on its own.
