I Am A 72-year Old Woman, Who Works Out Regularly

I am a 72-year old woman, who works out regularly at a gym. A few weeks ago, I heard a popping noise
in my left leg, and now have some issues of pain, mostly when I sit and extremely bad in the nighttime.
I have tried ice, 200 mg. of ibuprofin, advil and tylenol to no avail.
My personal trainer thinks it's the IT band or peroformis muscle and suggested using a foam roller, rolling pin, running a LaCrosse ball over the sore area, 600 mg. ibuprofen and a heating pad. Do you agree with
the assessment? It is fine during the day, but the minute I sit down or go to bed, it flares up.
