I Am A Diabetic For 2 Years With High Blood

I am a Diabetic for 2 years with high blood sugar levels HBA1C - 10 (286 avg) and have marginally high SGOT and SGPT levels. I am taking 1 Gm of Metformin XR morning & evening with Diet control to manage the blood sugar for 1 week now and getting good results. What can I do to improve on the Liver functioning?
