I Am A Gymnast And I Was Doing A Back

I am a gymnast and I was doing a back handspring on the beam and instead of putting my hand down I landed with just the top of my pinky finger on the beam. Why does my knuckle hurt when I press on it, and why can i bed the top of my pinky easily from side to side?
