I am a para who has been taking propantheline for approx. 26yrs. My new doctor took me off this medicine. He said it has been shown to be ineffective over the years. Six years ago, my FNP, whom I spent most of paralyzed life with, put me on Oxybutynin. I was involved in a vehicular accident where someone ran me off the road, down an embankment, and through rough terraine. To make a long story, the seatbelt caused damage to my bladder. My bladder spasms were horrific. Any movemnt set off my spasms. As I transferred from my wheelchair to my bed, I voided heavily inbetween. Now, both Propantheline and
Oxybutynin have stop my spasms to a great minimal. Why would my NEW doctor take me off propantheline and not think that I needed something else to take it's place? I'm having terrible spasms again, and am voiding in my chair, inbetween transfers from my chair to my bed, and in bed before I can self cath. I need help with this matter. What do I do? Get another doctor?
