I Am A School Nurse. I Have Just Seen A

I am a school nurse. I have just seen a child who was C/O pain in her right ear. Her right ear did not look like it was an infection. Her left ear, however, has a tiny black dot that looks like a bulls eye on the bottom of the Tympanic Membrane. She has been cleaning her ears with a q tip and I warned her not to do that. Could the black dot be from the Qtip?
