I Am A Smoker And Usually Only Cough In The

I am a smoker and usually only cough in the morning but now i am coughing thorough the day and it is a flemy cough now and it tastes like chicken soup. Is this a infection? I know i need to quit smoking and im sure it may be the result of smoking but I never had the taste of chicken soup when i coughed before
