I Am A Type 2 Diabetic. I Take Nexium Nightly

I am a type 2 diabetic. I take nexium nightly but on rare occasions have break through acid. I have always had sugar free runs at home for this purpose. They have now stopped making it. Can I take regular tums with sugar on these rare occasions? Or will it cause an increase in glucose snd hgaic?
