I Am Age 44 Female- I Started My Cycle On

I am age 44 female- I started my cycle on Friday August 7th and it ended on August 11th. Then I just started it again this morning August 31st and its heavy. This has never happened before. However, a few months back, I did miss a month and a half and then I started again, I am not sexually active and haven't been for months and months now...what's going on?
