I Am Age 67, In Very Good Health, & Always

I am age 67, in very good health, & always been active in sports, exercise, etc. I am having slight knee pain on the inside of my right knee with some swelling, & after having my knee bent for awhile, when I straighten it out I get a big knot on the backside of my leg behind my knee with much pain. I rub it & after awhile it will get somewhat better, but returns if I swat or bend my knee again. I am limited in how far I can squat also. I believe I injured it doing a seated leg curl exercise with weight, but felt no pain at that time. Should I get an MRI? I have used both ice & heat.
