I Am An Elementary School Nurse. I Have A Student

I am an elementary school nurse. I have a student that had an appendectomy three weeks ago after it burst. She is complaining that when she burps she has had this bad taste in her mouth and smell of rotten eggs. Incision looks great and
no abdominal pain post surgery. Could the bad breath she is experiencing and tasting be related to a systemic infection from the burst appendix?
