Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am approximately 1 month and 1 week into my avulsion fracture of the distal fibula in my right foot. I have been in a boot for a month now, while not applying pressure to the foot at all and not actively moving through my house at all. I can say that I am overweight and am slowly starting to apply some pressure to my ankle to walk in the boot. I have now started to sleep on my stomach with my foot on a thin pillow.I have had bad calf muscle cramps on the right side of the leg at night and some during the day for the past 3 nights.
The pain is throbbing in the very top portion of my calf. The pain has not subsided any at all, but there is not pain when I push into the porion of the calf that is in pain. It is a scary feeling that I have only had muscle twitches while being inflammed during the first portion of my recovery, but now for me to have muscle cramps in 1 specific portion of the calf.
I am wanting to make sure that it is not a blood clot. In your opinion is this a blood clot or is it muscle pain? I was not reassured when I could not find a knot in my calf from the cramping to cause me the sharp pain in the top of the calf from the muscle cramp at night. Is this a blood clot, if not what is it? Very worried.
