I Am Caring For A Man Wit A Spinal Injury.

I am caring for a man wit a spinal injury. I have only been looking after him for a week, there is 2 of us caring for him. He has 2 or 3 large fissures in his anus and after spending a long time up yesterday he has developed what looks like a blood blister the size of a marble just inside the anus. The doctor came to see him earlier but I was out and he said to the other carer that it is fine. I am very concerned as I have to do bowel care with him in the morning and if it bursts it will almost certainly get infected. What would you recommend.
I have read that cucumber, witch hazel and turmeric could bring down the swelling would this be OK to apply as a paste
