I Am Confused...I Went To The Hospital About 5 Something

I am confused...I went to the hospital about 5 something just morning....i was having horrible contractions...ok the first nurse came in and checked me and said i was about 1cm dilated and 75% effaced and my cervix was thin (also said journey has an irregular heartbeat) okay i got put on the machine and an hour later another nurse came in and checked me and said i was 1cm dilated and less than 70% effaced and my cervix was still thick....now when i went to the doctor Thursday she told me i was 2cm dilated and 80% effaced and my cervix was paper thin....the nurses told me not listen to the doctor because they have been checking people for 30 years and i was also told by the nurses that i was 0 station and not engaged...who should i believe?
