I Am Currently Having A Persistant Cough As Well As

I am currently having a persistant cough as well as running nose, both with yellowish and greenish phlegm. I had gone to see a doctor who prescribed Dextromethorphan which i found makes me cough even more. What could be a better cough mixture for my symptoms?
