I Am Currently On My Period Which Has Lasted Now

I am currently on my period which has lasted now for 7 days. My last period which lasted any length was in Ðecember. From then till last Friday, I have had a few 'shows' but nothing significant. My question is that I worried as I have been having heavy blood loss and severe clotting which has lead to 'leakage'. Is my period heavy because I haven't had a period in 7 months or is there another issue?
