I Am Currently On The Depo Shot For Birth Control

I am currently on the depo shot for birth control and I just started my period about 4 days ago , I'm having pretty painful cramps and today I went to use the bathroom and when I wiped I saw some sort tissue that I can only describe what looked like a red/pink caterpillar shape thing . what could it be ?
