I Am Currently Taking 50 Mcg Of Levothyroxine. I Have

I am currently taking 50 mcg of levothyroxine. I have bulbar ALS with swallowing difficulties. Since the pill is to be taken on an empty stomach without food and not crushed, how does one take this medicine? I get it to the back of my throat and use small swallow sips and it takes about 10 swallows to go down. I can feel it at each place along my throat as it travels down sip by sip. When I put it in water for 15 minutes, it dissolves, so why do the directions say not to crush it. I get that it is tie released, but this seems crazy.
