I Am Experiencing A Sharp Pain On The Lateral Side

I am experiencing a sharp pain on the lateral side of my left shin app. 3 inches above my ankle. Pain is erratic and can be pin pointed to a 3 inch circular area. Also having heal pain and am doing stretches for plantar fasciitis. The pain in my shin is sharp and I feel it the most when I am drying off when I shower at night. Any idea what could be the cause of this pain and what I can do about it.
