I Am Experiencing A Shooting Pain (more Like A Zing)

I am experiencing a shooting pain (more like a zing) through my upper middle right finger on the soft side of the finger. I feel it as a sudden zing when my finger is stretching to full length, but not every time. My finger is numb on that side mostly in the upper section but a little into the middle section of my finger. It is sudden an strong enough to make me wince and catch my breath.
