I Am Experiencing An Occasional Fluttering Sound In The Left

I am experiencing an occasional fluttering sound in the left ear. When I notice it (several times a day), it is a light sound beginning with several beats a second for the first 2-3 seconds, then quickly dying out. I do also have a light ringing in both ears, but that has been with me much longer (perhaps a couple of years). I am 56 y.o., male, 72 inches tall, 195 pounds; blood pressure and cholesterol have been in normal ranges, but not checked for a year or so.
