I Am Experiencing Norco Constipation. I Have A Bowel Movement

I am experiencing norco constipation. I have a bowel movement once in 3 days and have been taking maximum strength ex-lax. I still have trouble having a bowel movement without straining. What other medication can I take along with ex-lax to help me have a bowel movement? if I stop taking the Norco, will I return to normal bowel movements?
