I Am Experiencing Pain In The Right Side Of My

I am experiencing pain in the right side of my neck. it worsens from chewing. I thought it was my thyroid gland but a trip to the dr this morning resulted in her finding no issue with the thyroid but possibly this is a muscle injury . Eating lunch, this has worsened and is not causing discomfort into the area of my ear when I chew and the area is swollen. Is this consistent with a strain of the muscle in this area?
