I Am Expieriencing A Sudden Onset Sore Throat. The Actual

I am expieriencing a sudden onset sore throat. the actual pain is not severe but when I looked in my throat it is almost completely covered with a thick whitish "stuff" that seems to be running down but no actual "pus pockets". I have had my tonsills out as a child. My glands are tender. could this be strep throat?
