I Am Getting Over A Cough. Today I Had A

I am getting over a cough. today I had a bit of a coughing spasm. Immediately I developed a pounding headache that would not go away. I went to urgent care. My slightly high blood pressure had climbed to 178/126. They gave me an injection for pain control. As the pain improved the blood pressure slowly decreased. What could cause this sudden extreme headache?
