I Am Having A Breast Mass Removed And I Have

I am having a breast mass removed and I have to have a guide wire put in because it is too small to see. But I have a couple questions why cant they put it in when Im asleep in the same building instead of going from building to building, will it stick out, what do they do to put it in.
