I Am Having A Post Chemo Pet Scan Tomorrow But

I am having a post chemo pet scan tomorrow but have a niggling incessant coughof 2 week duration, post flu, which seems only relieved with lozenges or aspalgin(codeine 8 mg). Can I take either of this so that I am not continually coughing whilst lying flat. The instructions state NBM except water for six hours so concerned if I take medication
